Busting Common Misconceptions About Invisalign

People never desire to misalign their teeth, and therefore, there are various dental treatments available to solve the problem. There are traditional braces that help in solving the misalignment. However, people face certain discomfort while using traditional braces, and therefore, in such cases, Invisalign proves to be the best solution. It is because conventional braces are visible, and they can cause certain hesitation while smiling or speaking. However, with Invisalign, this is different. Therefore, it proves to be one of the best solutions for the people.

However, there are still some things that need to be clarified about Invisalign treatment, and these need to be solved as soon as possible. So, in this article, we will discuss some of the common misconceptions about Invisalign and recheck them with some facts. However, if you are in Scottsdale, you can consult an expert dentist in Scottsdale AZ, to learn more about the Invisalign treatment and its misconceptions.

Misconception 1: It is Only Effective on Minor Problems

It is considered one of the most common misconceptions about Invisalign that it is only effective in solving minor problems and has nothing to do with the major ones. However, the fact is different. It helps solve various complex problems, such as closing the gaps, underbites, overbites, and other issues. Although it solves minor gaps, it is at the same time effective in solving significant problems too. So, this is a sheer misconception that Invisalign can only solve minor problems.

Misconception 2: It Takes More Time than Braces

People avoid orthodontic treatments, thinking that they would consume a lot of their time. Similarly, this misconception about Invisalign is common among people that Invisalign takes longer time than braces. However, the truth is different because the duration varies according to the person’s requirements. Traditional braces take around 18-24 months to align the teeth properly; at the same time, Invisalign will take around 8-10 months to align. However, this is a general estimation, and it may vary on the basis of the case. If there is a vast misalignment, then it might take some time, and you have to bear it to have straightened teeth.

Misconception 3: Braces are More Effective than Invisalign

It is also one of the common misconceptions among people that braces are more effective than Invisalign, and one must go for braces rather than Invisalign. However, the truth is that Invisalign is more efficient and safe because it provides steady pressure on the teeth with durable and medical-grade plastic. It helps push the teeth toward the desired position and tracks the teeth because, in aligners, there is regular tracking and changing in a timely manner. So, this proves to be more effective than the braces and provides results in a shorter period than braces.

Misconception 4: Invisalign Cannot Be Used If You Have Other Dental Treatments

This myth is also pervasive in that people state that Invisalign is not suitable for you when you already have some type of treatment, such as crowns, veneers, or other such treatments. However, the fact is different. If you have any such treatment, then Invisalign can be used as it increases the grip on bonded materials such as veneers and crowns. It might seem to be a complex process, but it is as effective as Invisalign without any other dental treatments. So, there is no exact issue about Invisalign with other dental treatments.

These are some of the common misconceptions about Invisalign treatment. However, if you are undergoing any such treatment, it would be better for you to consult an expert doctor before going for any such procedures.
